Fanjingshan is the national AAAA-level tourist scenic spot, the national nature reserve, China's top ten summer famous mountains.Its named is derived from the word "Fantian Jingtu(Pure Land)". It is the main peak of the Wuling Mountain Range with a forest coverage rate of 95%, and it is a rare Buddhist dojo in China. Fanjingshan is located in Guizhou Province and its formation began between 1.0 and 1.4 billion years ago. This area is one of the two oldest blocks in southern China. The Neogene Proterozoic and Cambrian strata in this area are developed and widely distributed that lead this area become an important window for the study of the Precambrian in southern China. Fanjingshan has the most important and significant diversity of natural habitats, preserves the world's rare subtropical native ecosystem, and is rich in wildlife resources.In addition to , it has a large number of ancient rare species between 70 million and 2 million years ago. Among them, the endangered relict plant Indus has occupied 11 distribution areas in Fanjingshan, and the golden monkey which is known as the “only child of the earth” and has only 800 animals is a rare animal protected by the state. Fanjingshan is mainly composed by metamorphic rocks and surrounded by vast karst landform that make it becomes an“ecological island”standing in the karst ocean with unique geological, ecological, biological and landscape features.
