Every year on the 24th of June in the lunar calendar, the Yi people hold a grand celebration for the Torch Festival. Young men and women entertained guests with Zha wine and Shuihua wine. Accompanied by instruments like Suona and Yueqin, people sang and danced around the bonfire to celebrate the festival. During the festival, young men and women light torches made of pine wood, or go to the village fields and sprinkle rosin on the torches to get the blessing; they sing, dance, race horses, bullfights, and wrestle; or they hold grand bonfire parties and revel all night long.
