The Dong ethnic group is consisted of different subgroups in various regions, it leads to the date of this festival is different. In general , it will be held in the sixth or seventh lunar month when the grains are ripe. On the occasion the local people will prepare some offerings , which are mainly newly ripe grains or cooked rice with fish, meat and liquor, to sacrifice their ancestors and to congratulate a harvest beforehand. At the same time, racing , playing the Lusheng pipes and some other activities will be held.
