Sisters’ Meal Festival is a traditional festival of the Hmong people in the Laojiao and Shidong areas of Taijiang County. It is is held from March 15 to 17 each year. At that time, young men and women put on the festive costumes and gathered in the Lijiang River, Yangjia and Yuanzhai to celebrate this traditional festival with rich ethnic characteristics. The Hmong Sisters Festival has a long history and has been passed down as a folklore. Eating sisters’ meal is an important etiquette. Shrimp fishing is one of the festival activities, a couple often talks about love in this way. Wooden drum dance is another important way of festival activities.
